We Are Here For You...
Alert Women About Rape Encounters is a hands-on, common-sense approach to self-defense that incorporates a combination of lecture and physical skills necessary to become more aware and safe. It was created and developed by Ken McCullum, a law enforcement officer and martial artist, to educate and instruct women in self-defense and life-saving techniques. AWARE was developed based on Ken’s extensive training and experience, which provided him with a unique perspective on the lives of rape victims and the perpetrators. He realized that often women are a little too trusting and unaware of their surroundings and the dangers that could befall them. He felt that by teaching them how to be more aware, trust their instincts and not take unnecessary chances, they could avoid potentially dangerous situations before they occur. Out of Ken’s vision to make women more aware and safe, A.W.A.R.E. Self-Defense for women was formed.
What You Will Learn
Each year, hundreds of women disappear, become victims of domestic violence, stalking, sexual assaults and even murder. A sexual assault occurs in the United States every 5 minutes. One in three women and one in four teenage girls will become a victim of a sexual assault in her lifetime.

Why Take A.W.A.R.E?
What Makes A.W.A.R.E.Unique?
AWARE was specifically designed for women with no martial arts experience or athletic ability. The AWARE concept is based on techniques and strategies, not power and strength; so anyone from the young to the elderly can participate in the program and become more aware and safe. The techniques are simple yet effective. Many participants described their experience with AWARE as “empowering, informative and fun.”
